Physiotherapy Treatment for Shoulder Pain

In your first appointment, I’ll:

  1. Listen to your symptoms, goals and daily demands.

  2. Assess movement and strength to pinpoint what’s driving your pain.

  3. Adapt aggravating tasks so you can stay active while symptoms settle.

I’ll then build a tailored plan, which may include:

  • Targeted strengthening (rotator cuff, scapular control)

  • Mobility work and graded range-of-motion

  • Load/posture tweaks for work, sport and sleep

  • Hands-on treatment where helpful

  • Online support if you prefer virtual sessions

👉 Physiotherapy is typically the best first-line option before considering injections or surgery.

Next Steps for Shoulder Pain Relief

Shoulder Pain FAQs

Do I need a scan for shoulder pain?
Usually not. In your initial assessment, I’ll clinically reason whether imaging is appropriate and whether it would change your treatment plan. If needed, I can arrange private imaging or liaise with your GP (e.g., X-ray, ultrasound, MRI) and then go through the results with you. Please seek urgent care if you notice red-flag symptoms (e.g., severe trauma, fever, feeling unwell, or rapidly worsening pain/weakness).

How long does a frozen shoulder last?
It can last months to a few years. There are typical phases (freezing, frozen, thawing), and I’ll help you maintain motion, manage pain, and progress through each phase. Injections can be appropriate for some people; there are different options depending on whether pain or stiffness is the main issue — we can discuss pros/cons and liaise with your GP if helpful.

Can I keep training with shoulder pain?
Often yes — with the right plan. I’ll show you how to modify load, range and technique so you can keep moving while symptoms settle. We’ll use graded progressions and simple pain guidelines so you can continue the activities you enjoy safely.
