Physiotherapy Treatment: Pre-Op (“Pre-hab”)

  • Establish baselines for range, strength and function

  • Set clear targets for before and after surgery

  • Plan home setup (swelling control, walking aids, sleep, stairs)

  • Teach joint-friendly movement (sit-to-stand, getting in/out of bed, bathroom steps)

  • Provide a simple strength & mobility plan so you arrive stronger and more confident

Physiotherapy Treatment: Post-Op Recovery

Your plan is phased to protect healing while building capacity:

โ€‹

  • Early phase: swelling & pain management, safe range, gait with aids, wound considerations

  • Middle phase: progressive strength, balance/proprioception, functional tasks (stairs, sit-to-stand), activity pacing

  • Late phase: return to work/sport/hobbies with criteria-based progressions (hop/step tests, strength targets, tolerance goals)

  • Communication: I can liaise with your surgeon/GP and provide updates when needed

๐Ÿ‘‰ We’ll agree what to do, how much, and how to know when to progress—with clarity on what’s normal vs. when to seek help.
